Today I want to recommend a Chinese restaurant in New York. It’s my favorite one here. It’s called Ollie’s Sichuan.
Address:411 W 42nd St, New York, NY 10036
You can also order their food on their website: www.ollieseats.com
Sichuan is a province in China. It’s famous for the spicy food. I have been there several times. There are many mountains in sichuan province. And Chinese believe that eat hot food can help us resist the moisture. So actually it’s the position decide their food.
When I try their food first time, that really reminds me of the sichuan food which I eat in China. Their boiled fish fillet is my favorite. It’s very hot and spicy but that’s authentic taste of sichuan food. They also have a famous tradition sichuan food called “Blood Pudding and Intestines with Seafood Hot Plate”. Actually it has a poetic name in Chinese but it’s hard to translate:毛血旺
Do you know who General Tso is?
I don’t, but I do know about his chicken. And if you’ve ever ordered Chinese food before, I’m sure you do too.
General Tso’s Chicken
General Tso’s chicken is a staple item on almost every single Chinese restaurant menu in the United States. It’s like burgers on any diner menu in the country. Although the dish has become so representative of Chinese food, the origin of the dish is somewhat a mystery. Outside of the US, General Tso’s Chicken is not a common item on the menu, if ever to be listed on the menu. If the dish isn’t from China, where did it come from? Wicked Delicate Films took it on themselves to help us figure out the mystery of General Tso’s ever famous chicken with their feature-length documentary – The Search for General Tso.
The documentary will follow the dish through small towns and big cities all across America in pursuit of the story behind the famous General and his chicken. Here is their recently released trailer:
I am a big fan of Chinese food, but I have never heard of General Tso’s Chicken outside of America. Malaysia has a large Chinese population so there is no shortage in variety of Chinese food to choose from, but I have never once seen it on a menu back home before. So I am looking forward to watching this documentary when it releases late this year. With a order of Chinese take-out, of course.
If you’re from any other country in the world, had you ever heard of General Tso’s Chicken before coming to the US? Or have you ever seen the dish in any other country besides America before? Do you know of any other dishes that have become dishes representative of a culture’s cuisine that aren’t actually part of their original menu?
(Hint hint: the California roll!)
Just incase you guys were left out, this is what went viral last week.
I personally like this song very much dont know why. But this video got up to 1 million view by 1 night. But most of the comments that were given are all bad comment though. If you still remember who is Rebecca Black, the girl who sang friday, her video now receive good comments like
“i am sorry for disliking this video after i listen to Chinese food”
One fun fact about this 2 songs that is both are compose by the same person which is the black guy in the video name Patrice Wilson.
One of my favorite youtuber and his name is David So did a review on the song that same night, and its hilarious. you guys shouls totally check that video out
Also check out the parody done by Peter Chao, i think that this parody sound even better than the original.
