A few weeks ago one of my friends invited to have brunch at the Standard Grill and thought it would be a nice opportunity to go back to this restaurant. Turns out, we spent the day there and went to 3 of their bars : The Biergarten, The Standard Grill and Le Bain.
As I said we were only supposed to have brunch but when we got there they told us we’d have to wait 45 minutes for a table. We decided to go the bar next door (which is also part of the Standard Hotel) the Biergarten. When we got there we thought the only served beer which is cool but none of us drink beer… One of people working there showed us another area of the bar where they actually served cocktails. They weren’t very good but it helped us pass the time. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who isn’t a beer fan.
Their brunch menu is really good and pretty inexpensive compared to the other restaurant’s in the area. And their outdoor area is really nice! I would totally recommend this place for a sunny sunday brunch. We had avocado toast and could not resist snapping pictures of our food even though we never posted them.
Le Bain is the rooftop bar of the Standard Hotel. We went there after lunch at 5 pm. As a french girl I had already heard about the place because apparently every french person who’s ever been to NY has been there! I liked the fact that the rooftop was smoker friendly (meaning we could smoke anywhere). The atmosphere was cool but I did not think the view was that great : I’d heard it was the best rooftop view in NY but honestly I’ve not even been to that many rooftop and I’ve already seen better (The One in Brooklyn and The Press Lounge ).
