As you guys have probably figured, I LOVE to travel. There’s just something about getting on a plane in one state and landing in another that I just find so fascinating. A lot of people have a fear of flying and panic on planes, but I get a feeling of excitement and adventure when I get on a plane. I’ve written about Vegas and Europe, which are both places I went to for the first time. But, one place that I keep going back to and never get tired of is Los Angeles.
I’ve been to LA a good handful of times and it just gets better every time. The weather is always perfect, the streets are lined with palm trees, and the star sightings are plenty. This may sound funny, but some of the best cafes and restaurants I’ve discovered because celebrities have gone there! One café I found during my last trip was Alfred. The café itself is very instagrammable but the coffee and pastries are actually so good. I even bumped into Kendall Jenner there. I also went to a restaurant called Craig’s, which serves incredible Italian cuisine but is also a major celebrity hotspot. Larry King, Babyface, and Harry Styles were in there while I was which was pretty awesome.
If you love the outdoors, a good workout or both I highly recommend a hike up to the Hollywood Sign. There are plenty of guided tours that take you to a place where you can catch a photo from a distance but if you follow this trail, you can get as close as you possibly (and legally can) to this California landmark. Bring PLENTY of water and snacks because it gets really hot up there and there’s nobody on the dirt road selling anything. The hike can be a bit challenging but I promise you it is well worth it when you reach the top. You really feel like you just made in in LA.
If you’re into museums then I suggest to you the Getty museums. I had a chance to visit both locations, but the one in Malibu is basically a giant mansion. It’s a really gorgeous place with plenty of architecture, and a nice stroll around on a sunny day. There’s a cute café with outdoor seating, sitting just over one of the courts with a nice view of the ocean that you just can’t beat. If you look down, you might even see a reenactment taking place. As we were driving down the Pacific Coast Highway, we passed Ocean Avenue. I remember the song by Yellowcard named after this place, not knowing it was real, and made the drive even better. The views of the entire Malibu Beach
as you’re driving along side it are just breathtaking and worth even pulling over for some quick photos. If you’re like me, and love the behind the scenes aspects of Hollywood, then a studio tour would be the perfect thing to do. Warner Bros Studio (along with many others) offer guided tours and I got to visit the set of Pretty Little Liars and The Ellen Show! They tell you all the secrets that go into making shows and you also never know who you might spot around the studio lots. Whether you’re going for the first time or fifth time, you’ll always find something new to try and something you just have to go back and see.
