As I mentioned in my last post, I have been in contact with somebody at New Jersey Transit about getting an internship. Today, I’m happy to report that I have an interview set for Friday morning.
Last Friday morning, I traveled into New York to get a haircut partly due to my anticipation of getting the interview, and due to my hair growing longer than it needed to. I think my lucky morning started after I got off of the A train at 125th Street in Harlem (yes, I got caught in the subway snafu that morning), when I was able to catch one of the new MTA buses that I talked about in my previous post and charge my phone for a little bit. I usually take this bus, the M101, to 145th Street because I never feel like walking up the hill after getting off of the train up there. Shortly before I got to 145th Street on the bus, a phone call came through to my phone. Knowing the area code was a Northern New Jersey one, I answered it without hesitation. It was the call I had been waiting almost two weeks for.
We agreed to set my interview up for next Friday morning, and concluded the call right before I got off the bus. I was on cloud 9 the rest of the day. I called my parents right as I was walking down the hill on 145th to tell them the good news. After getting my haircut, I caught a Bx19 bus to get to the 2 train in the Bronx as I knew the A, B, C, and D trains were still having problems. I took some photos of my haircut when I boarded the bus. Here’s one.
Unfortunately, the Bx19 was crawling down 145th and since it was 1:15, and the train I planned to catch back to New Jersey was at 1:36, I opted to get off on Lenox Avenue and take the M102 down to 135th Street for the 2 train. Unfortunately, I didn’t make the 1:36 train, but made it in time for the 2:07 train. I met my parents and my grandmother at Metropark station in Woodbridge, NJ and headed to Men’s Warehouse to try on a suit for Friday. We finally settled on one that everyone liked. Here’s a headshot photo.
I’m really hoping that this interview goes well. I plan to practice as much as possible this week so I’ll be ready.
