A few times a year, I normally go camping with some brothers from my fraternity and this time around it was definitely something to remember. Everything was just going downhill for me and made it such an unpleasant experience for me. Before I continue ranting, lets start it off on Friday..
On Friday morning, I woke up with me losing my voice and having heavy allergies that caused me to sneeze every other minute. After getting ready and making my way to a train, I realized that I forgot my sleeping bag and some extra necessities at home. By the time I met up with a few brothers who were leaving with me, we ended up taking 6 hours to drive upstate (Keep in mind the drive should’ve taken about 3) because we got lost for most of the time. Once we made it to our campsite, it started to rain tremendously which just made it a pain to set up our tent.
On Saturday, things just got worse for me. I was basically stuck in “bed” for most of the day due to feeling even worse. Unfortunately the medicine I brought didn’t help me out at all. Being upstate, it was around high 30s most of the time so the cold wasn’t making anything better for me. My Saturday consisted of sleeping, sitting next to a fire while sleeping and you guessed it, sleeping. Towards the middle of the night I ended up feeling slightly better to the point where I could actually socialize but unfortunately there wasn’t much to do at 4 AM while everyone is sleeping.
Once Sunday came, we were only there for a few hours to just pack up and leave. So I basically missed out on the whole camping experience unfortunately and now I’ll probably have to wait a few months to do it again with them.
Bottom line, don’t go camping while you’re getting sick.. It’s not worth it haha. But on the bright side we did stop by my favorite fast food restaurant while leaving!
