I hope everyone had an awesome spring break, to me it really flew by unfortunately and I wish it could’ve never ended. This year was my first year actually going out for spring break and it was definitely something to remember. Long story short, a group of brothers from my fraternity decided to go to California for a few days last week and I bit the bullet and ended up going with.
Unfortunately, I purchased my ticket 12 hours before the flight and I felt like I had no time whatsoever to prepare.. So I made the mistake of staying up all night.
My flight departed from JFK at 8:10 AM to San Francisco International Airport and I had arrived there at 6:30 AM to avoid any issues but of course, that wasn’t the case. At this point, everything slowly started to go downhill. In the beginning I was not able to print out my boarding pass and was sent to a “special line” in order to talk to an agent to “verify my identity” to ultimately learn that the area I was brought to was not for my situation. After waiting on that line for about 40 minutes, one of the agents for Delta Airlines took me to another area to speak to another agent.. for another 30 or so minutes. At this point I started to become paranoid as I had about 30 minutes to reach my gate as the agents “helping” me out continued to tell me that I would not make it to my flight.
With the 30 minutes I had left I managed to run to TSA just to find the longest line I have ever seen for screening. At this point all I could do was wait in line and hope to be out of the section as fast as possible.. which did not happen. Around 7:55 AM I was rushing to my gate and with the luck that I had, it was on the opposite side of the terminal I was in. After running for as long as I could with my carry-on bags, I made it to my gate at 8:05 AM. As I’m out of breath at my gate, the agent at the front desk told me it was too late to board the plane.
After being sent back and forth by multiple agents I spoke to one final one to see what could be done about my flight and thankfully they were able to change it. Being this was my first time ever missing a flight I wasn’t sure what was going to happen. Only downside to this was that I had to wait another 5 hours for the next flight..
Other than that California is beautiful and I highly recommend visiting!
