So I went to New Orleans over the spring break, the place is amazing, full of Jazz music, art, and great food. Besides seafood and the French hot doughnuts ( which was AMAZING as well, the store is 24/7, you can also order a cup of nice cafe au lait there!) ,
, the must try in New Orleans are Gumbo and Jambalaya. I never heard about Gumbo and Jambalaya before going to New Orleans and had done some little study about the food! Here is some little introduction about Gumbo and Jambalaya.
Gumbo is more like a creamy stew, sometimes is on the top of the rice, sometimes is alongside.
The restaurant I went to is simply called Gumbo Shop, when I was searching restaurants in New Orleans, everybody recommends this restaurant. I ordered the Chicken Gumbo and it was great! You might want to go between lunch and dinner time because this place gets super crowded.
Jambalaya is more like a paella, when making Jambalaya, people cook the rice together with it.
I had Jambalaya at the same restaurant where I had Gumbo, but I found this place at midtown west where they serve Southern food, it’s called “Bourbon Street Bar & Grille”, and its located 346 west 46th street, between 8th and 9th ave.
And don’t forget to order the famous Hurrican cocktail with the food!
