If you have a sweet tooth like I do, I’ve discovered the most heavenly, Instagram friendly, magical land of unique sweets GOODNESS. Like most coffee shops and restaurants I find that are on social media, I randomly discovered an upcoming dessert festival in Brooklyn. It started just last year and quickly gained major popularity due to the super cute desserts that attendees got to buy and post on social media. This is the perfect event to discover new sweets that a lot of people might not even be aware of, complete with a garden and rooftop to use as the perfect backdrop for those Instagram dessert photos.
By the time I found this festival the tickets had ALREADY sold out. But, thankfully it was just the early bird sale and I would get another shot at the golden ticket. The day general tickets went on sale was a day I was in class (of course, my luck), but that didn’t stop me from getting to #omgdessertgoals. I ran out the classroom at 11:59am, credit card in hand; ready to go to war for a ticket (it wasn’t really a war but it was VERY stressful). I snagged a ticket so fast and felt like I just won the dessert lottery.
The festival itself was full of bright colors, sparkle, and smelled like you were walking into a pool of sugar. It was every foodie bloggers dream, but don’t worry guys, there were plenty of you there too. There’s literally something for everyone with desserts ranging from sweet to savory, vegan to gluten free and everything in between. Some vendors even created limited edition desserts just for the festival so you really got the sense of inclusivity, like you were part of something special. I do recommend bring your own bag to carry all the desserts because there’s so much you want to take home, but also sooooo much you just can’t wait to try.
The dessert vendors change every year so you’re always getting something brand new and very unique. This was my first year attending and definitely not my last. You don’t have to be a super popular foodie blog or baker to attend, and the vendors are really really nice. They much appreciate your business almost as much as we love their sweet treats. Make sure you bring cash, as not all vendors accept cards and bring those stretchy pants!!! You’ll be leaving with a bag full of treats and your sweet tooth beyond satisfied!
