After we talked about Azathoth last week, today let me tell you something about The Three Original God. Azathoth created darkness, The Nameless Mist and the Crawling Chaos, these three Outer Gods are Shub-Niggurathm， Nyog’Sothep and Nyarlathotep.
Shub-Niggurathm is the Supreme Mother God in the Cthulhu Mythos, which is called “The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young” and also called “Lord of the Wood”. It is an alien god that is considered to be a female, with the nature of Mother Goddess. Its shape is like huge dark clouds of meat with many tentacles, mucus dripping mouth, numerous tentacles, and irregular long as a rough dock general foot, similar a bunch of bubble terrible figure.(The image is just an imagine that transfer Shub-Niggurathm to a Human aesthetic girl， do not believe that)
Shub-Niggurathm is the most widely worshiped one in the Cthulhu Mythos. It is worshiped by the Hyperboreans, the Muvians, the Sarnaths and all The druid and savage religion in human and also be worshiped by Mi-Go and Nug-Soth.
Lovecraft records a ceremony involving human and nonhuman worshipers about Shub-Niggurathm:
Ever Their praises, and abundance to the Black Goat of the Woods. Iä! Shub-Niggurath!
Iä! Shub-Niggurath! The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young!
Dark Young is the son of Shub-Niggurathm, also its believer which is given eternal life.
Nyog’Sothep which is called The Nameless Mist is a misty, shapeless thing. It’s a mysterious Outer God that we know little about it. Even its name is just a code, the name as “hidden name” in the foreign gods’ dark language.
Nyog’Sothep has no worshipers, not appeared in any great horror records. “Revelations of Glaaki”, which was written by a Great Old One, is believed to have vaguely mentioned it, but that is the limit known about The Nameless Mist. It is said to be a cloud of mist that covers the whole country, or a misty column full of phantom eyes and mouth, and no one knows what horrors lurk in it.
Next week, I will continue talking about Nyarlathotep and other Great Old Ones.
