I visited Lisbon last year in July. I had heard that the country’s specialty was the cod jam. I’m not a fan of cod. Food is very important in my life. Everything is about food and what I will eat in the day is always in my mind. If I do not like what I eat, I feel like I’ve ruined a meal or waste my time.
Anyway, I was quite disappointed with the food in Portugal, there were so many tourist restaurants where meat was not good, sangria tasteless …
And then I knew the Mercado da Ribeira.
This place is great for food lovers. Nowadays, It’s very fashionable to eat in market, like the Chelsea market in New-York.
There are very large tables and all the restaurants are around the guests. Everyone can eat what he likes. There are fish stands, meats, « croquettas » because it is a specialty there too, delicious burgers. We shared several dishes from different restaurants and I was in paradise. This place is absolutely to do in Lisbon.
