Hello everyone, I am Ai-Lin (Eileen) from Taipei, Taiwan.
I have been in New York City for 6 years, and I want to introduce some Taiwanese food places
in the town. Here I am going to give you guys the top two places I love the most so far.
1.Taiwan Bear House
Address:11 Pell St, New York, NY 10013
Opened in 2015, Taiwan Bear House serves Taiwanese traditional bento boxes, which means lunch boxes and bubble tea. The bento boxes are in railroad style, I remember when I was younger, my parents always buy me railroad bento boxes on the train. In fact, in Taiwan, we have different kinds of bento boxes in different train stations, some people would take the train to the certain station just for the bento box. In Taiwan Bear House, my favorite bento boxes are Fried Chicken Leg Box and Golden Crust Pork Chop Box.
2. Boba Guys
Address:23 Clinton St, New York, NY 10002
I know there are a lot of Bubble Tea places in New York City already, but so far the is my favorite. Boba Guys in a bubble tea store from San Fransico and the first store was open in 2013. I started to see a lot of posts on instagram, talking about this bubble tea place, so when they finally opened a store in New York City, I decided to give it a try. Their bubble is very chewy, and that is what the bubble should taste like. ( If the bubble is not chewy and hard, that means the bubble is over cooked or the bubble tea place leave the bubble too long, usually in Taiwan if the bubble is placed over 2 or 3 hours, they have to throw it away). My favorite drink at BoBa Guys are Duke of Earl Grey with milk and Matcha Latte.
