This week I have a sad post, I went through something that kinda made me reflect on life.
Two girls that I knew from my past passed away. One girl I went to middle school with and I wasn’t really close with her or talked to her but knowing that someone so young that you shared years of classrooms with is gone was such a shocking and surreal experience for me and I couldn’t stop thinking about her all night.
Then yesterday I got a call from my friend telling me that a girl I went to high school and was in the drama department with took her own life. I was in total shock, I never ever thought that she was in that place in her life that she was going through anything. I only knew her for a short time, during senior year when I joined the Drama department that she was a part of. But in that short time we had many laughs and memories together and while we weren’t close I got to know and see the talents of a really amazing girl. She not only acted in the plays but painted the sets and was an amazing artist in general. To know this amazing talented girl is gone from the world is so sad. I also could not stop thinking about her last night.
Finding out that this two young and beautiful girls passed away this weekend forced me to reflect on life and realize to very important things.
- Life is so incredibly precious, you really don’t know when you might last see someone. While this might be a sad truth its so incredibly important to realize. So please just enjoy every minute you have with someone and never take anyone for granted. Don’t hold grudges or fight for stupid reasons and always forgive because in the end all those little things won’t matter. I know this sounds cliche but its so true.
- Mental illness and depression are important topics that we really need to start addressing more. Mental illness is a real sickness, its not something that can be easily turned off. Society still taboos mental illness and I really believe there needs to be more awareness. Also don’t forget to always tell someone that you love how much they mean to you because you never know when they might truly need it the most.
