It’s been a while that I’ve heard that this TV show was absolutely to watch, but to be honest, I didn’t think it could be something I would appreciate… Something about earls, at the beginning of the 19th century… I thought it would be boring and nothing would happened…
So when I started to watch the show, it was only to try, and without much conviction. From the first episode I loved it! The actors are more than very good, they transport us in the post-Edwardian era in England, when aristocratic families had plenty of domestics, when ladies didn’t dress up alone and when dating someone or going to a club was completely shameless.
Each season starts with the arrival of a new technology, the first one is the electricity, then there is the telephone, the fridge, the toaster, the sewing machin, the radio… While being a long time ago, this TV show is completely current. It shows how to manage when changes are happening is the world.
Then, it treats about historical subjects and helps to understand their ways of lives. It is really interesting!
Beside all of this, there is a really thrilling story between characters and we really want to know the end!
And last but not least, Maggie Smith, the amazing Professor McGonagall of Harry Potter, plays in Downton Abbey!
