I got back home from class at 7 pm with 2 essays for the next day. Now I know I could have done one of the essays during the weekend but I convinced myself that I would have time to do it on Monday. Clearly I didn’t because here I am on a Tuesday, with this same essay to write and so far all I have written is my name and the date.
So I sat at my desk with my laptop open on one of the essays and then I yawned. My mind’s way of telling me that I should take a nap. So guess what I did?
I took a nap because I could always do my homework later. Now what was supposed to be a 30 minute nap turned out to be a 4 hour slumber to which it took me another hour to fully wake up and roll out of bed.
This brings me to reason number 1 as to why you should not procrastinate.
- You say you’ll do it later but you really won’t!
Now the next day I had more work to do because my other classes gave me homework too YAAY! So reason number 2 to not procrastinate.
- You’ll have even more work piled up = less sleep!
Now sometimes when you procrastinate too much you’re left to do your work last minute. So here you are rushing trying to beat the deadline but you still end up with a C. I guess you shouldn’t have procrastinated. Reason number 3 to not procrastinate.
- You might not do the best you can because you were under time pressure
Now we’ve all experienced that day when all your friends are going out and you really want to go out as well but you have so much homework because you were procrastinating. Yes that is reason number 4. When all your friends are out having a great time, you’ll be doing homework.
- Less time for fun
“So be a good sport. Don’t procrastinate, do your work on time!” she said as she wrote her blog post late because she was procrastinating.
