Despite my newly found interest in the topic, normally I am not really a true believer horoscopes and the deep profound meaning behind zodiac signs compared to other true believers. Honestly, I read my horoscope occasionally if I ever stumble across it in a newspaper or a magazine out of pure enjoyment. Never have I ever found the need to seek out a newspaper (if anyone still reads one) for what may horoscope says and then guide my life accordingly with a watchful eye on when my “social life is about to take a major swing”.
Although my knowledge on zodiac signs and horoscopes are limited, here is what I know:
- There are 12 zodiac signs (Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, and Capricorn)
- I was born on December 19th so under the 12 zodiac signs I am considered to be a Sagittarius.
- There are four zodiac elements (water, fire, earth, and air) and each one of the zodiac signs belongs to one of these elements.
- How or why these elements are related to the zodiac signs, I have no clue
Although my knowledge in astrology is clearly limited, I did stumble upon several articles about a possible new zodiac sign:
If you did not take the time to read any of these articles listed above then I’ll be frank with you — your zodiac signs may have changed. My deepest condolences to those who have the wrong zodiac sign tattooed on them. You have been living a lie.
There are actually 13 astrological signs instead of 12, the new addition to the family being Ophiuchus. Congratulations November 29th to December 17th babies, your life has been uprooted to a completely new sign. Enjoy!

Here’s the explanation:
NASA explained that when the Babylonians created zodiac thousands of years ago they thought it was best to have the dates on the 12 months calendar correspond with the star constellations so they decided to ditch Ophiuchus. So technically Ophiuchus is not a new discovery, it has been there the whole time!
Another fun fact
Because life is life and the earth rotates around the sun and the sky apparently shifts (the more you know), the Earth’s axis aka the North Pole does not point in the same direction as it used to when the ancient Babylonians decided to map out the original constellations. According to NASA, our signs would have different date ranges anyway.
And here’s what NASA had to say about this
“Here at NASA, we study astronomy, not astrology. We didn’t change any zodiac signs, we just did the math.”
