This weekend, in particular on Saturday, ran through the Global Citizen Festival. This festival gathers people for a musical moment but also to make people aware and active for the world’s biggest problems divided into 8 thematic: girls and women, health, education, finance and innovation, food and hunger, water and sanitation, environment, and citizenship.
The amazing thing of that event is that it was free but to earn tickets, we had to do some “actions” to be part of the movement. We had to look for these actions on the official website so that we are all aware of global issues and participate to try to reduce them.
The event started at 4p.m, so to have good spot we’ve made the line since 10 o’clock in the morning, but we weren’t the first, so I imagine that people must have slept in front of the entrance! The door opened à 12p.m but the line started go ahead a bit earlier, so we had so much hope not to wait for long hours!
When we finally could enter in Central Park, we had to walk like 20 minutes, then we passed about 3 or 4 security checks and the last one was a metal detector and then we arrived to the stage. The place was very huge with grass everywhere, surrounded by trees and behind us, the buildings of the city. It was like a countryside festival but at the heart of New York City!
The festival started at 4p.m so we had like 2 hours to wait before the beginning. With my friends, we were divided into 2 groups because there were 2 entrances so when we came in, we tried to join each other but we couldn’t because of gates.
While we waited, we sat on the grass, and enjoyed a kind of chill before the music played. The concert started with Major Lazer, the atmosphere was very friendly, and everyone just enjoyed the music. Then different bands such as Metallica, Rihanna, Demi Lovato, Usher and Kendrick Lamar played.
It was totally crazy! The weather was absolutely perfect! I really loved this moment! But I guess that you may have been there too, so what did you think about the event?
