Is it me or has the world been getting more and more smaller? Over the weekend I visited Albany University to surprise my old roommate and also for park fest and all the fun activities prior to that. So Friday night after a long day of work, my friends picked me up and we hit the road, when we got there I kid you not the whole uptown was there, even colleagues of mine here at NYiT were there, all the familiar faces didn’t surprise me, hot artists like Future we’re going to be there so I knew a lot of people will show. What surprised me was how everyone knew each other, has the world really gotten smaller? Or has social media made everyone all of a sudden “acquaintances.” I’ve lived in New York my whole life, and with middle school, high school and going to two different institutions I gained a lot of acquaintances, you know people you see at different functions and just have small talk with. Also Twitter, on Twitter all of the users have this saying “Twitter Family” and although most of us never seen each other in real life our interactions via Twitter gave us that connections but that’s not the case any more, last summer I kid you not I met all of my followers, not intentionally but occasionally, most at parties, others while shopping in SoHo anud different occasions of that sort. To me New York is so small now that any place you go whether it be in any of the boroughs you will see a familiar face or two. I mean I guess it’s cool right?
