New York is a great city, but after 8 months spent here I really wanted to see something else for the Spring Break. So after several researches, I’ve decided to visit Boston for the Spring break.I’ve spent 5 wonderful days there and I have to say that I kind of felt in love with this city.
I’ve spent 5 wonderful days there and I have to say that I kind of felt in love with this city. I felt like it was a really small New York but with a more Irish print and some other differences. What caught my intention and that I remember and the most are these following points :
I was surprised to discover that in Boston the population is less numerous than I expected. I was there during St Patrick’s week end and even with that streets were less crowded than I thought especially during late nights.
Also I was thrilled to discover how nice people are there. Every people I met, cashier, waitress, people on the street, subway drivers, all of them were smiling with the will to help others. I really liked the Boston people attitude, it was good. Not that in New York people aren’t nice but there it was different, I felt like their kindness was a natural one, directly from the bottom of their heart.
2) The accent and the Irish culture
OMG, it was like I was suddenly in Ireland ! the accent is so strong there ! Thankfully because I lived in Cork (Ireland) for 6 months 2 years ago it wasn’t that a big deal for me. But still, I wasn’t really prepared to that !
Plus the architecture there reminds me the European style (espacially fromr Ireland and United Kingdom), all the little houses with big communal parks. It was like suddenly I wasn’t in the USA anymore and I kind of loved that feeling.
3) Clean ground
Streets are so clean in Boston, seriously I’ve never seen a city that clean! Even the subway was like that. I think that details that reflects the respect people have toward the city and others there.
4) Taxes exempt
Every shopping addict would tell you the same. Thank you Massachusetts for the taxe exempt !! It make feel so good, especially when you are from Europe and you are not used to pay not included taxes. I had almost forgot this feeling to have a receipt without extra fees on it , to pay only this indicated price without have any surprises at the end.
You have understood, I found so many positive points to that city, I felt very well there. But I have to admit that is was a little bit to small and a little bit too dead when the night has come. New York has welcomed me some months ago and I won’t betray the city that has offered me my current amazing life !
