This past Sunday, I was able to attend the International Restaurant and Food Service Show with a group of four people. It was located at the Javits Center, where I have previously attended numerous car shows over the years. I’d like to preface this by saying that I am your averagely patient man –
After about an hour or so of waiting on a line to get a badge – note this was after we had preregistered – we were finally able to enter the show. As soon as I was whisked down the escalators I could sniff all of the scents of each booth, trickling towards my nose like a conga line of flavor. For the next three or so hours I would be traveling from booth to booth trying any and all of the food I could, stopping only to let the rest of the group catch up.
Never have I been so enthralled in samples of food since I last went to BJ’s with my mom when I was a child. Nor could I imagine a world without free samples to tantalize my taste buds. I had stuffed myself to the brim with small portions of food. By the time we had left I was full and unable to eat another bite, maybe.
I have to say, I had quite a fun time talking to the people at each booth and learning what their product was about and of course getting to taste it. I’m proud of myself because I tasted a lot of food that I other wise wouldn’t have thought about trying to buying at the grocery store. In fact I’ll have to add some to my shopping list.
