Les commencements ont des charmes inexprimables.
Beginnings have inexpressible charm.
– Molière, French playwright and actor
Summer 2015 in Paris was an unforgettable experience for me! I was able to take an integrated marketing communications course in EFAP. I can rant forever about my daily classes, site seeing, endless Parisian walks, sweet macaroons, wine and bread, the sparkly pointy-thing, and the mesmerizing sunrises of the European sun, but instead you can play the video below. Enjoy!
My trip to Paris, France was the beginning of a dream come true for me. I had studied French for four years in high school and grew an affection for French culture and the city of love. During my Freshman year of high school, I knew I had to travel to Paris. From learning how to conjugate verbs, pronunciation, and my passionate teacher who spoke so highly of France, it forced me into becoming happily invested in all of it.
Paris was truly a breath of fresh air for me. The 5 weeks that I spent there taught me how to be on my own in a different country. We take conformity for granted, and when we’re brought outside of our comfort zone it creates room for growth. Parisian culture has an incomparable energy. It’s very soothing unlike NYC’s concrete jungle. As you saw in the video, the architecture is old western European and buildings are leveled at a medium height. You feel big in Paris, if you know what I mean. Gardens, flowers, and trees surround the city and around every corner there is green space. You can actually hear birds chirping in the Summer because of the lack thereof an abundance of background noise. I am a New Yorker at heart, but boy did I need a change of scenery. Thank you Paris for being you!
