So on Sunday I was trying to recover from my huge party the night before when I went to the kitchen and my roommate (who was at the very moment a bit too dynamic for me) asked me if I wanted to go for a walk outside with her and the third roomie to enjoy the amazing sun. As you can imagine I strongly rejected the offer because when I am hangover it is impossible for me to move even a finger. But then she told me that they were going to the High Line and something suddenly changed my mind.
I had never been to the High Line before and it was something I really wanted to do soon. Moreover, the weather was sooo good that it would have been a waste if I had stayed in my bed all day long such as the most useless person in the world. So I took my courage in both of my hands and I began to get ready for the expedition of the day.
The journey was awful, people everywhere, children were screaming, crowded subway coaches, the express had decided to become local, all of this annoying things were added to my fatigue. I can promise you that in this kind of moment it is better for you to avoid any conversation attempts with me and the best for you is to try to run away from me! All of my friends would advise you that…
But then my nightmare stopped and we finally arrived at our destination. It was amazing. I’ve seen a lot of picture and snapchat of the High Line but to see it in really was awesome and the light of the day brought something even more magical.
It was full but not crowded which was understandable. People wanted, just like us, enjoy the first signs of the Spring’s arrival. We sat a bunch of minutes on a bench and it was funny to observe all the different kind of people who were walking: tourists, couples, families, friends even dates! It was also a really fashion show, every style were presented but I have to admit that in this area of NYC people are really well dressed; we could contemplate so nice styles there!
What I really enjoy during this wander was the fact that we are in the heart of NYC, so close to buildings and typical apartments. The light of the end of the afternoon was stroking the walls of some buildings. When I was watching on the left I had the Hudson River which was shining, on the right I had the sun reflection on the top of the Chrysler Tower and the Empire State Building. I was like on a mix between a dream and a Woody Allen movie. This orange color everywhere was gorgeous!
I was so glad that I had moved my butt from the laziness because otherwise I would have missed this wonderful show and seriously it would have been a real waste. This is this kind of unexpected good surprise that actually make me fall in love with the Big Apple and week by week I realize my chance to be a part of the dream.
Now I look forward to discovering the High Line at the end of Spring with all the vegetation around and all the colors. It must be unbelievable!
