My nephew is the most energetic 3-year old that I have ever met. In reality, I haven’t spent a whole lot of time with many toddlers but, if I did he beats them all. Since he was born, I have always referred to him as a ‘character’ because he would draw attention from strangers on the streets. Young and old people would stop to wave at him and say “hello” or “he’s so cute!” To respond back he would flap his hands up and down, showing excitement, and giggle back.
His curiosity and imagination defined him since the very first day that he was placed on earth on January 15, 2013. I’ll never forget the moment that I met him. His big-brown eyes sparkled, full of life, trying to absorb as much as he could. He’ll never let you do anything without questioning it or sticking his big head in between to find out what it is. Did I mention that he is so funny? He can barely put sentences together, but he finds the perfect opportunities to catch us off guard and make a joke or act silly. Thomas the train is his first childhood love, followed by chocolate, the park, and running. Boy can he run!
Tian’s favorite pastime is being in the water. And since Summer isn’t constant in New York, the bathtub works perfectly. He hasn’t learned how to swim yet, so he lays in the bathtub and jiggles around. Using small pales, he fills them with water and throws it on himself. But, he doesn’t settle with just him being wet. So, he pretends to be sneaky and soaks you. Then, chuckles at his mischievous act. At that point, you can’t help it but to laugh with him and soak him back.
My boy is one of a kind, with a special and friendly heart. He has impacted me personally and taught me so much about the simple joys in life. His charisma and charm are like super powers, that’s why I call him Tian-o.
