Let me start off this post by asking, do you love mac and cheese?! OF COURSE YOU DO! (If you don’t..out… just, get out. please) There is an AMAZING establishment I have eaten at time and time again and have never left unimpressed. It is called S’mac, which stands for Sarita’s Mac and Cheese, and it’s a gourmet macaroni and cheese restaurant.
I mean, come ON tell me that doesn’t look amazing! They have dozens of various “mix-ins” you can choose from, in addition to a few house specialties that they have listed on the menu. The mix-ins include tons of cheeses, meats, veggies, and non meats. Personally, I always build my own with things I love. My go-to is cheddar& mozzarella cheese, with added in chicken, bacon, and broccoli, topped off with bread crumbs. Oh, did I mention they also have gluten free macaroni & bread crumbs as well?! Because they sure do!
If you see a few options you’re really into and don’t want to pick just one, there is also a “sampler” option, where if you and a few friends want to share, you can get a whole bunch of different combinations served up on one skillet!
Not only do you get the freedom to customize your own macaroni and cheese, but everything I’ve tried has been genuinely delicious. They cook everything perfectly with nicely crispy cheese and bread crumbs on top with nice melty and gooey consistency below the surface. The fact that they offer gluten free is amazing as well! Not to mention, it’s not awfully priced either! I usually spend about $10 for myself.
S’mac has two locations in Manhattan, one at 345 E 12th St, and the other at 157 E 33rd St. Mac and cheese lovers, please do yourself a favor and EAT HERE!
