The new generation has this hype running in them called Valentine’s Day♥. It is celebrated on 14th of February every year when many people believe in exchanging cards, gifts, flowers and showering their behalf with hearts and flowers as a medium to show their eternal love for them.
The origin of Valentine’s day come from Roman holiday Lupercalia dated back to 5th century. The occasion is named after martyred Saint Valentine who was imprisoned for performing weddings of soldiers who were forbidden to marry and ministering the christians, prosecuted under rome empire. 14th February is also known as Saint Valentines Day. In 14th century it was first associated with romantic love, where the tradition of exchange on this day started.
To todays generation the truth behind the origin of valentines days is all a mystery. The true relevance of this day is overshadowed by the desire of sexual aura mainly by every one though it is celebrated by everyone may it be friends, couples, married or unmarried.
Like, Yesterday I had my grandfather calling me to ask what is should I bring for my grandmother for valentine’s day. Yes, I agree it is a sweet gesture but my main point is do you really need to celebrate it without knowing the actual history of its origin, and the question still remains the same is it a necessity or a hype?
In todays case wealth has overpowered the value of love, it is all a material aspect of showbiz world people want to be in. A world running on a racetrack, fighting to beat others to be on top. In 21st century, way to celebrate and show this romance has been modified as sophistication. Candle light dinners, expensive hotel rooms, exotic vacations, etc. My question is are emotions on sale?
So, Here I am on a long valentines weekend, sitting home with my beau♥ and trying to answer these questions.
It was same another day with same morning and same night, blue skies above, hudson river below my apartment, and my same morning coffee dose. There wasn’t any red roses or red sparkle shouting around. I was curious to get my answers, I talked to a stranger lady and asked her view about it.
She replied, Its just same another day for me, walking my dog around. If only something that is different to me is the weather. Its more windy and not a perfect one for dinner dates for those young couples and cruises for those elite couples.
Further, she said don’t just find one day to love your dear ones make it a point to tell them whenever possible and if you fail consider those feelings to be plastic because you don’t know what turn life is going to take to next. Life doesn’t wait just you do for this one special day, rather make every day count special until eternity ∞.
