Welcome to the 42nd Annual Halloween Village Parade !!
The Halloween Parade in New York is the biggest celebration dedicated to this festival on October 31th. It attracts around 60,000 people each year.
- The journey of the Halloween Parade
As every year, the Halloween Parade begins at the 6th Avenue and Canal Street corner at 7 pm and ends on the 16th Street about 11 pm. The course is squared by barriers: you can get to that meeting by the Sullivan Street, East Broome Street and Canal Street. To the west, only Canal Street will be accessible. Note that only disguised people can participate in the parade and must be present at the point of departure between 7 and 9 pm.
- The costume and makeup are essential to participate
Halloween is a celebration which gives inspiration for costumes. In 2010, the bravest of the participants decided to had the body painted in blue to put hiself in the shoes of the characters from the movie Avatar. A year later, he was dressed with a copy of the black tutu worn by the actress Natalie Portman in the Oscar-winning eponymous feature film the Black Swan. Bring your lights and be creative!
- What to expect during the Village Halloween Parade
Every year, large puppets are leading the Halloween parade. Musical groups are also walking and dancing in the streets.
