As a penny-pitching college student, I look for the word “free” just about anywhere I go. So when the VP of Programming at NYIT, also my sorority line sister, told me that tickets to Aladdin on Broadway were going on sale I said “HOW MUCH?!” She was in charge of the all ticket sales.
At $25 a ticket, everyone and their mother would find me crazy for not buying one. But it was still above my budget of… free. And after seeing two Broadway shows with the price tag of $0, I’ve been spoiled.
My line sister knew how desperately I wanted to see Aladdin. I knew that constantly harassing her for a free ticket would still result in the same answer. I gave up and thought maybe I’d get some work done like a good college student does.
That idea very quickly flew out the window when I received a call at 7:58 pm.
“There is one ticket left in the box office. Come and it’s yours. Free.” Keep in mind the show started at 8pm.
I was out the door by 8:03pm.
To say the least, it was absolutely amazing.
