So as an avid music listener, Friday’s (which used to be Tuesday’s), excite me the most. Friday’s mean new music releases (which is probably what I will be talking about a lot on this blog)! This week one of my favorite artists, Lana Del Rey released her fourth album entitled, Honeymoon. While it doesn’t strike me as much as Born to Die did, it is a huge step up from her previous album, Ultraviolence. I always find myself comparing any material that she releases to her debut album. She came pretty close when it comes to the quality of music. Lana often uses themes for her album which usually come off as very obvious but this time there doesn’t seem to actually to be one. Nothing wrong with that. The lyrical content is in typical Lana fashion, singing about drugs, love and love loss. You’re probably sarcastically thinking, “wow, he listens to music with a lot of substance”, but, trust me it’s much more than that. On the bright side, Lana’s vocals have definitely improved. While they’re not super vocal acrobatics, they are still pretty great. Honeymoon has something that Ultraviolence lacked, and that is replay value. The songs on Ultraviolence were great, but they just weren’t songs that you could put on repeat and be completely okay with. After a while, it just seemed to just drag on. With Honeymoon, it is the exact opposite. I have had this album on repeat for days and have barely listened to anything else. This album is a little less melancholy than most of her music (emphasis on little). I highly recommend this album. My favorite tracks include, Terrence Loves You [my personal favorite], Freak, Art Deco, Religion, Salvatore, The Blackest Day….actually, just the whole album. It’s that great. And now for some shameless promo; Buy Honeymoon on iTunes now!
