So I just got back on Sunday from Dominican Republic AKA D.R. This time I explored the northwestern part of the island. D.R. can get you hooked, LITERALLY. I have been there several times already and I still go back for more.
This island might be small in size but enormous in the number of places you can see and explore. I mean people from all over the world leave their countries to live in Dominican Republic and I’m pretty much close to it!
Having been there a few times and traveling a big part of country, I have to confess that I had a very difficult time choosing my TOP OF THE TOP 3 places I visited on this trip. YES, it was really that hard!
So let’s jump right into those AH-MAZING places I just visited…
- Monkey Jungle – Now I am a huge animal lover. HUGE. Finding out that all profits from this venue go to charity and that Squirrel and Capuchin monkeys from all over the country get saved from abusive owners melted my heart. That is really what made this my #1. You can choose just to see and feed the monkeys or you can make a combo that includes monkeys and 7 stations of Ziplining! (WARNING! This is an adrenaline-filled experience, plus your guides all have Celebrity names- So you might just meet Will Smith!) if you still want more, there is! A gun range, where you can shoot away in a 7 station target range! These are three things you will NEVER find together anywhere else, but if you do please correct me.
2. Paradise island– This trip from a resort is amazing! You’re in the bus for a good 30-45 minutes then you are moved to a small motor boat and you go on a mini tour of the turquoise blue ocean water for another 30 minutes which feel more like 5 minutes since your eyes will want to see every little detail possible. At the end of the tour is TA-DA..
the famous Paradise island from the Monopoly game! It has been the smallest island I have stepped foot on. In this paradise you can go snorkeling or scuba diving to treat your eyes to all the amazingly beautiful fish there is in the Caribbean- truly a remarkable experience. Lastly, my favorite part of just laying down in the fine white sand and letting the crystalline water hit your body, all while having a drink or two! PRICELESS.
- Morro de Montecristi – IF you are looking more for peace and quiet with a little bit of beach and scenery, this is your spot! The view from this place is simply breathtaking. For the most part it is not a very crowded, which was weird to me, being that it was so beautiful. I mean JAW-DROPPING. The sand is a fine mixture between an orange and brown color. The waves are made up of a perfectly golden brown foundation with a sparkling sky blue tip. Need I say more????
