While the band didn’t have any shows this weekend we spent a lot of time practicing and talking about where we are headed. Stage presence is something we have been trying to work on, and not by dressing up like Vikings but by keeping the audience entertained with live music at all times. The major problem that effects our stage presence are our long intros where the orchestral backing tracks are played. Most of us are not playing during this and we knew something needed to be done.
At the Vinterfest show we met a girl named Rachel, she explained how much she loved our band, and told us she would be a great addition, being a classically trained violinist. From the city, she came out to Staten Island for practice this Saturday. She played an electric violin with Chris’ audio effects, it sounded incredible, and the best part was she played our songs with ease.
Another problem we encountered during practice was that Chris Warner, our lead Guitarist, who is also in charge of the backing tracks and my metronome had trouble handling all of his jobs. Since the violinist who will need technical assistance now, we came up with a solution that will also turn Winter’s Wake into a 7 piece band!
The members will be:
Chris Surace – Rhythm Guitar
Chris Bartoloni – Drums
Chris Warner – Keyboards and Ableton Live
Mike Cregg – Bass
Rachel – Violin
James Battle – Lead Vocals and Irish Flute
Sean Battle – Lead Guitar
We are all very happy that James’ older brother wants to take on this challenge. He is an incredible guitarist, producer, and most of all leader, something this large band will certainly need.
We also all need stage names, obviously …..
