Yes, I already know my summer is going to be “rough”. I was hired as an Orientation leader and a Resident Assistant for the upcoming semesters. Both these jobs need 2 weeks of training before the beginning of the fall Semester.
School (for me at least) will be ending on May 15th, but I will have to come to school on May 26th. I will be going to a camp upstate to bond with my Orientation Leader Colleagues and then live in Fordham for the next two weeks. It is easier for us to travel to NYIT and food is provided in Fordham as well. Then, Orientation Days are scattered during the month of June.
Training for Resident Assistant begins on August 11th… one month before classes begin. We are told to come early to help the international students settle down and make sure all the paper work is set.
Many of you would say I’m crazy, but I love that I’m going to be busy in the months of May, June and August. I have July all to myself and will be going on vacation. All I need is a month to relax and also, believe it or not, training for both of these jobs are fun. We get free food, free t-shirts and free living areas and you get to meet great people.
