I can say I was pretty occupied for the spring break we had. Most students traveled out of the city to spend their break, while I did too, but continued to go back and forth for the interesting events that happened just for my birthday. I turned 21 on the last day of our wonderful little break, and a close relative traveled all the way from LA just to spend some days with my family & me. The first days I was just working to make some $ but then it all started on Wednesday. Italo (visiting from LA) had a flight that arrived at 2 AM on Wednesday night. After picking him up with my mom from JFK, we traveled alllll the way to her house in East Stroudsburg, PA. This was our first, but not last night getting home at 4:30 AM.
Thursday, we had tickets for the 3 of us to go see The King & I at a Lincoln Center theater, so we ended up traveling back to Manhattan, then had dinner & made our way to PA (since my mom couldn’t help but take me with her). We got home at around 4 AM again since we lost gas on the way home on route 80.
Friday we didn’t travel, and stayed home to be greeted with my aunt Guiselle’s fantastic cooking of not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 dishes of food just for the family to enjoy since she was happy to feed Italo. Then the big day came. Saturday. While my birthday was on Sunday, March 22, we celebrated on Saturday night. The entire family on the east coast who I know and care about came out to celebrate with me. A total of 12 people including myself all had reservations at Carmine’s Italian restaurant on the UWS, we enjoyed a great meal and while 5 of us had to go back to PA, 7 of us stayed behind and went to Dizzy’s Club Coke~ an amazing jazz club right at Columbus Circle.
It was about to be midnight when we were standing I line to get into the club, and as the clock struck 12 my family sang me happy birthday yet again, and when we were finally seated I got to enjoy my first legal drink with my lovely mom, dad, uncles, and cousin while enjoying a great jazz set.
On Sunday, I while I wanted to stay home to recover and relax for my day, my parents in NY wanted to go out to a Peruvian restaurant. Overall, it was a great birthday/spring break, just exhausting.
