Valentine’s Day is the holiday with the highest number of suicides in one day. This holiday causes a stir of emotions in many people.
I do understand how people would feel lonely and depressed on the holiday. With all the pictures on social media and stories of the day, someone could be easily vulnerable to feeling down or unworthy.
What is the real meaning of Valentine’s Day though?
In all reality, Valentine’s Day is the celebration of Love in general. The love you have for your family, partner and friends. It is not all about couples, even though many make it seem that way.
For example, I spent the day with my family. We bought each other balloons, chocolates, cakes etc. A nice and relaxing day.
We should all realize that it is just another day. We can’t let the pictures or the title of the day ruin our perspective on life. Every person has at least one person that they love and vice versa.
Next time, instead of focusing on what you don’t have on Valentine’s Day, focus on the love you have created with others. Celebrate the true meaning of Valentine’s Day.
