Last Sunday, I went to Williamsburg neighborhood in Brooklyn. It wasn’t my first time in this area, but when I went a month ago, I just walked around Bedford avenue. At that time, I didn’t notice that it was the main street art area of New York. I discovered a lot of artists over there, which express themselves in many different ways, either by sticking small posters or by painting a whole wall. It’s not something new because many artists covered Williamsburg walls long time ago.
In this picture, you can see the artist Cabaio which started street art in 2000. Artists come from all around the world to leave there mark. They are globe trotters. The most well-known street artists come to Williamsburg to show their work, like the French artist C215. The good thing is that the most popular artists and those who are not that famous are present in the same street, this wouldn’t be possible in a conventional art gallery. Everyone can enjoy art because it’s a part of our daily life in the streets.
Williamsburg is like an open-air museum, so if you like modern and contemporary art like I do, go walk around Williamsburg. You won’t be disappointed. Moreover, it’s free 🙂
