As you maybe know, tomorrow is the Jewish new year Roch Hachana and for the first time I am not spending the holidays with my family so I feel kind of sad about it. To cheer me up, I am cooking one of our delicious cake we usually do on Roch Hachana. It’s our family tradition. It’s called a käsekuchen, it look like a cheesecake but actually it’s not really the same.
It’s much more lighter! So here are all the ingredients you need to do this recipe :
– 1 puff pastry
– 500gr of quark (“fromage blanc” to be more specific)
– 3.4 fl oz cream
– 1 tablespoon flour
– 200gr of sugar
– 4 egg yolks + beaten egg whites
– 8gr of vanilla flavored sugar
Preheat your oven at 200°C (392°F)
Put the flour in a bowl and add on quark. Mix well ! Add on the 4 egg folks beaten, cream, sugar and vanilla flavored sugar. Prick the puff pastry with a fork and then drop the dough. Cook for 1 hour and cover up with aluminum after 30 mins so it doesn’t burn.
You usually wait for the cake to get cooler but if you are very hungry, you can eat before ! Be careful not to burn yourself.
I hope you will enjoy this recipe as much as me.
Happy holidays and Shana Tova to all of you, have a sweet year !!!
