Two weeks ago, around 09:30 AM, an explosion occurred on 116th street and Park ave.
I was working on my communication law when I heard a big sound from the west side. I didn’t feel any vibration, so that was weird and really scared me.
Then, I got a grip on myself and thought about the train which used to cross all Park ave.
I smelt a burning small and saw the smokes by the window of the living room.
All the emergency trucks and the police came one after the other. It was as an incessant concert of alarms. All my neighborhood were running far away this building and I received phone calls from my beloved family and people I know from NY asking me if I am still alive.
Everyone was very worry, and they reminded the attack of 9/11. American people can’t forget it, even if the time is passing.
I learnt the increase of damages 4 hours after thanks to the media coverage and the serious updating Google News. Some victims were still untraceable, so the investigations continued during the night. A gas leak as provoked the death of 7 people.
The day after, we had a sulfur odor. It was hard to breathe correctly. Moreover, the subway was closed. As it was two blocks from home, I had to justify to the authority that I am living on 116th street to access to my apartment and my stuff.
I could escape from this terrible accident thanks to spring break. It was easier for me to move from NY as it was already foreseen.
That was a really sad day for the Spanish neighborhood. It would be hard for me to forget it. My prayers go for everyone envolved in this accident.
