This May I will be graduating from NYIT with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts. As this chapter of my life is ending, I think back on my last four years of college with minimal regrets. I have learned and gained a lot of experience through school and my internships while making the best of my networking possibilities. I can proudly say that I am looking forward to this new chapter of my life with open arms, ready and willing to go into the real world. After graduation I will be pursuing a career in the marketing, advertising, or communication field.
For those of you who are not graduating, I would like to give you some advice that you may or may not know. Pursue a career in something you have a real passion for because you will be in that field for the rest of your life. Make the best of every opportunity you have because you never know where an opportunity is going to lead you. Make sure you network with people in your field. This is will give you a perspective of what it will take to get to where you want to be someday. Lastly, gain real world experience by volunteering or interning in your field. I think the best way to learn is with hands on experience. Also, companies are looking for job candidates who have experience already. Unless you know somebody in your field, it will be very difficult to get a job with no previous experience. If you are graduating, what field will you be pursuing a career in?
