Will you be voting this year ? If not why ?
Many of you may not know, but I moved to New York last September from Detroit, Michigan. The transition has been an amazing one, and I have become quite familiar and comfortable with the city. However unfortunately, regardless of how many trips I have made on the subway thus far, these few months in NYC do not qualify me as a resident that is permitted to vote in the upcoming election.
So with that being said, yesterday I finally took the time out to submit an absent voter ballot application seeing that I will not be present in Michigan on November 6th. It took an immense weight off my shoulders realizing that although I was already registered to vote that I would actually partake in the festivities on Election Day. Being a first timer, I am really excited to utilize my rights as a citizen of the U.S.
