If you are a How I Met Your Mother’s fan, you may remember Robin Scherbatsky proclaiming her pride to be canadian ( CA-NA-DA ! CA-NA-DA !). Well, I didn’t go to Toronto or Ottawa, but I went to Montreal in Quebec. In that small island (look at the map here !), people speak french, which made me happy for two three days, because it was like a break with the english language.
Actually, as we had small vacation thanks to Thanksgiving, I could spend a few days to visit a french friend who currently lives there.
I discovered a very nice places and spent a great time. Montreal has a lot to show !
As this is a french-language-city, some places has to have a french name. For instance, Starbucks Coffee is called Café Starbucks Coffee in Montreal. I learned that Montreal is consider the second french-speaking city in the world, just after Paris.
Also, I was happy to visit the UQAM (Université du Québec à Montreal) where a great lip dub took place ! Do you remember that lipdub fashion ? Every school or university did one. The UQAM didn’t miss that thing and managed to do a great lip dub. Enjoy that great video !
With more than 10 400 000 views, can we consider it was a great success ? I do think so.
Thank you my friend !
I was supposed to leave NYC for a couple days during Thanksgiving but actually my mom and my grandmother came to visit me for a week. So, of course, we spent our first Thanksgiving in NYC, and it was great!
First of all, we do not spend Thanksgiving in France, this is a feast that doesn’t exist at all! So it was a good experience. During the day, as every museum was closed, and the weather was amazing, we decided to visit ower Manhattan and cross the Brooklyn Bridge until Dumbo. It was the best view I’ve ever seen since I arrived in NYC on August 31st! As the sky was blue, we had a perfect view on the skyline. My mother and grandmother were marvel at this view, I was so proud to let them discover this unreal landscape!
Then we went to see the new World Trade Center Towers, which are very fascinating, we saw the beautiful statue of George Washington (even if I saw that when I came here in June).
At night, we ate at the hotel Carlton where they were sleeping (on Madison Avenue) because we didn’t know any restaurant and the hotel offered a special Thanksgiving menu. Of course, I tried the stuffed turkey and it was sooooo good!! There was a good atmosphere in the restaurant. I think that people who are not part of the hotel can go eat there.
Well, Thanksgiving was definitely a great experience!
Thanksgiving is coming and as everytime I am thinking all of these delicious turkeys that will make us happy, I am also thinking about the funny movie Chicken Run.
Theatrical poster for Chicken Run
By the same creators of Wallace and Gromit that using modeling clay animation, this movie is about farmyard animals realizing that they will die if they can’t find a way to escape from there.
With a real comparison with the life in a concentration camp, the british chickens will trust an new prisoner, who is american, to save them from a near death.
You’ll be more able to understand the comparison if you have seen “The Great Escape“, which is for me one of the most moving movie about this dark time.
This movie for children is of course funny and full of incredible situations, but I recommend you to watch it (again?) with your adult eyes.
Of course I don’t want you to feel depressed during this beautiful period of joy and sharing, and I hope you’ll enjoy your meal as good as I will enjoy mine (’cause I will for sure!)
Have a great holiday guys and see you in one week
LaTroy Watson’s iTunes Christmas Catalog
Every year during the holiday season, I always force one question upon myself which makes it very intricate for me to answer. I love music to the death of me, but it just so happens vocally I sound so beautiful when I sing Christmas/Traditional songs; I guess it’s because I’m obsessed with the holiday season and anticipate Christmas like a pregnant woman in labor waiting for her child to be born. Okay guys and girls … I LOVE CHRISTMAS !!!!
But the one question I seem to ask myself is WHEN CAN I START PLAYING CHRISTMAS MUSIC? I never ask other people because they’re really not into the whole holiday music as much as I am so I hardly get answers. I’m guessing a person genuinely into music would just tell me, “you can listen to holiday music anytime of the year”. That’s not the correct answer I want to hear though, I’m a bit anal and OCD when it comes to holiday music, I believe holiday music should be played when the holiday season is near and not a day after Christmas; I swear I don’t know where I come up with these rules.
I’m having a hard time writing this post because I want to actually blast Christmas music right now, but Thanksgiving hasn’t hit the corner yet. I was thinking maybe the day after Thanksgiving or December 1st. I also don’t want to start putting the holiday jams on my iPod and jam when i’m out and about, because I don’t want to be the only person in the world blasting Christmas music so early. I’m going off in a rant here, BUT….
When do you think is a good time Christmas music should start to play?
