A dutch designer had the bright idea of offering a entirely customizable phone;
a revolution against the omnipresent planned obsolescence in our society.
Phonebloks: the phone to assemble and disassemble as much as you want.
You’ve probably already heard of planned obsolescence: this modern plague that consists of arbitrarily limit the life of any of our consumer products, born of our consumer ubiquitous society.
Dave Hakkens, a Dutch inventor, had the ingenious idea of proposing his own alternative to our loved mobile phones planned obsolescence.
The name of his project: “Phonebloks”. A phone with a fully modular structure, allowing the user to change the components one by one after the end of life … maintaining the same phone. A more economical ecological solution, and allowing us to keep our item to us for years. As we would repair our favorite Doudous. Only the base of the phone would be the same. A bit like if we added “applications” as a Lego on a plate.
For this phone come to life, Dave Hakkens needs support. He launched a campaign on the crowdfunding site Thunderclap.it to raise a number of fans necessary to develop its product. A true viral video that has been posted just yesterday!
To support it (free), here is his website: http://www.phonebloks.com
I did it
After apple announce their iphone 5S alot of android fans are bashing and scolding apple that iphone 5s is a crap/rubbish or whatever. Few months ago i might be one of them who will be saying the same thing as well but then i step back a little and try to see things from a different perspective. Then i realize that actually android fans are the one that are more arrogant than apple fans. When apple iphone 5 were introduce last year people were making fun of apple that just a longer iphone, there are even youtube video making parody.
But then when samsung announce the galaxy s4 no one actually say anything about it. The difference from s3 and s4 is hardly noticeable if compare to iphone 4s to iphone 5.
If you arent into technology you could hardly tell the difference between s3 and s4 but none of the android fans say anything about it. Yea i know that the s4 has alot of “awesome” features but if you really think of it, when will you use all those features? So lets talk back about iphone5S i am really impress with the touch ID, i really do not understand why people are saying that is a useless invention, to me i really think that is the “future” of smartphones. Although finger print scanning technology are not something new but it is new for a smartphone. Soon enough we will be seeing more phone from other brand will have the similar technology as well.
Sometimes i really do think that android fans are a little bit arrogant, back to the time where apple 1st introduce retina display people were saying why the hell would i need that high resolution, its totally bullshit. But then those same people are now concern about phone whether is it Full HD 1080 or 720. There are even people would not even consider to buy phone without full HD display.
I personally do think that Apple are always ahead of its time with their technology. Whatever that i have written on this post are base on my opinion. I am not really a big fan of Iphone instead i am a loyal android user, i’ve been using android since version 1.6. Feel free to give some opinion.
If you haven’t heard by now Google confirmed a long-time rumor: Project Glass. The project involved a pair of glasses that will be used as or in conjunction with a smartphone to display all your applications right in front of your very eyes. This may sound a little obscure so if you haven’t watched the video yet, now might be a good time. The video takes us into the first person view in the world of the future. Texts, cameras, video chat, maps, directions are just a few uses of these creative new devices. Google brought this information tot he public because they are beginning field tests with the product, finally taking it out of the lab where they’ve been working on it for two years (and I’m sure much longer concept-wise). I would be really interested in trying these out but they do look pretty dorky as of right now. I’m sure they’ll work out the style farther down the line. There is no confirmed release date as of now. The most interesting part of this product is that right now it’s being used exclusively with Android… which could mean major problems down the line for the market dominator: Apple.
A mysterious man called F. Bertrand has the idea of creating a tactile watch
. We can see on this watch-bracelet all the applications we love : Facebook, Twitter, Deezer, the news, the weather… We just have to put on the application we want and the main informations appear on the bracelet. We can also linked the watch and our phones to make the application directly appear on our smartphone.
We already have smartphone and touchpad but are we so fond of technology that we are able to actually wear our phone applications ? Let’s see that when the product will be launched for real. For now, it’s just a prototype.
