Banksy is , as he says himself ” an artist residencey on the street of New York.” It is a street artist .
Since the 1st October ( creating his Facebook Fanpage ), the artist graffs the streets of New York, before his works themselves, are recovered by those of other graffiti artists , as is the law of the street .
By selling his paintings in anonymity, affordable (they are estimated at thousands of dollars each) it is the message that art is to move everyone. Art by all, for all .
I’ve always been a fan of art especially abstract art and with my first few walks throughout the New York happen to passby and observe a couple of these street artist and it was so just amazing how these artist uses colored aerosol spray cans and comeup with amazing abstract and landscapes in just a matter of minutes. I’ve was asked by a friend before to look for these artist back in Malaysia so that she could purchased but I just didnt know where to look for them and there they were as I was taking a night stroll around Time Square What these artist do is that they use a canvas board and their materials would just be the spray cans and to imrovise their artwork their stencils are made out of newspapers , cardboards and rulers and certain tools like the chisels and blades to spread the spray paint to give it a futuristic look. I managed to take pictures but there’s a video that I found out about these artist and aparently its been around for a long time now. I just thought it was such a talent and it always makes me wonder how this artist are not exactly recognized in the art industry in New York.
This week, I suggest you go take a look at the exhibition of Andre Saraiva at Half Gallery. The opportunity to discover a French artist who made his first-ever solo exhibition in New York.
Andre Saraiva, is a French graffiti artist. He is sweedish. I’m sure you know his favourite character Mr. A. There is a Andre’s grafitti on a wall in Meatpacking. If you have time, go to the Apple Store on the 14th street & 9 av. Go on the 3rd floor and look at the building !
It outlines a series of works painted by hand very personal and very clever. Incorporating romantic quotes by Jacques Prévert and Henry Miller, André’s works are both sentimental and salacious. Colorful drawings that transports you directly into the world of Andrew, owner offamous nightclubs, Le Baron.
He is an artist to follow closely, up from the streets of Paris to New York galleries, without any problems.
Have a look at the pics!
Don’t forget to share your opinion about his work !
See u !
