If there’s a show you guys should go see this month, I would strongly recommend El Anatsui Gravity and Grace: Monumental Works by El Anatsui at the Brooklyn Museum.
This show will be held at the Brooklyn Museum until August 4, so you guys have plenty of time to go there!
The show features a huge amount of his work, and everything is really impressive. It is the first solo exhibition of the contemporary artist from Ghana, El Anatsui. His sculptures are made with woods and metals and shine like gold.
It is one of the best shows I have seen these past few months. The whole exhibit is breath taking. The scenography is brilliant. I really liked the way the show is set up. It is very spacious even though all the pieces are monumental and huge.
I didn’t even want to see the rest of the museum because I was afraid to be disappointed after seeing this amazing show. I wanted to keep all these strong images in mind. I already knew this artist work, but I had never saw that much work at the same time. Honestly, I couldn’t expect better.
My tip: Now that the weather is finally nice, you should plan a pic nick or a nice walk in Prospect Park, which is very close by the museum! Enjoy that moment of escapism from the big city!
Museum is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Open Thursday till 10pm.
Price: Suggested contribution is $8, but that means you can give them as much as you want.
Train Stations: 2, 3 Eastern Parkway/Brooklyn Museum
Hope you’ll enjoy it!
