Summer is over, we are either back to school or to work, which could have sounded boring IF i hadn’t made this little selection of the fall 2013 must-have for you guys!
1. Drizzy Mood
I couldn’t make this post without mentioning how exiting i am for the releaseof Drake’s new album “Nothing was the same”, not that is has to do with the fact i saw him 3 days ago leaving Lavo’s restaurant (OMG OMG). The album is expected for September 24th but trust me for the braves one, you can already find most of the songs online..
View album here
2. Fancy phone
Of course the iPhone 5c is one of the MUST of the fall. Part of the Apple team or not, fingerprint fan or not, you have to admit how beautiful are the six new colors, especially this electric yellow. Designed cases are also available. For the impatient (and/or lazy people), you can already pre-order online.
3. Have a drink or three
So I just discovered this bar called “Off the Wagon” a week ago in the West Village and I hardly recommend it. The cold is back in the city, you’ll definitely need one of the “buy one get one free” shot or cocktail of this place. The plus: there are Beer pong tables !
4. Sexy makeup
How could i not talk about the new Mac cosmetics collaboration with the beautiful Rihanna: “Riri hearts Mac”. 31 stock keeping units will be available online when you can already buy the Riri lipstick! Go girlllls!
All my thoughts go to the Bostonians who have been affected by this tragic attack.
Deeply thinking of the 37 dead (at least) in Iraq as well.
Here’s the thought I’m joining today:
“To murder several runners using bombs at a sporting event is terrorism.
To murder 175 children using military drones is U.S. policy.
We should accept neither. We should fight against both.”
Last Friday I was privileged enough to tour CBS Studios and watch the CBS This Morning Show be filmed. It has always been my dream to work in New York for a network news station so as you can imagine this experience was surreal.
To give you a little run down of what a typical morning at news station is like. I arrived at 7:00 in the morning and I was late…. The entire staff pretty much is running on coffee at this point and has been working for the past two hours. When I walked in the door I was greeted by a friendly security guard and Scott Pelley was walking by. It is extremely weird to see the 60 Minutes guy out of his element.
I was able to come into the news room on a commercial break, if I came in during filming you might have seen me that morning in the background covering the green screen. I immediately see Gayle King, CBS This Morning’s anchor, more commonly known as Oprah’s BFFL, and was seated next to her desk. Across the room is Charlie Rose and Norah O’Donnell sitting at the news desk being primped for their next segment. For those of you who don’t know, Charlie Rose is one of tv’s legends, he’s pretty old and has his show “Charlie Rose” on PBS. Norah O’Donnell is a journalist who has come from MSNBC and is most known for political things like this. These anchors are some of my biggest idols. To see them at their news desk doing exactly what I want to do, is pretty sensational for me.
What I noticed about the atmosphere of the behind the scenes was that it was friendly and more relaxed than most people portray it on television and in movies. Crew members were chatting about pop culture and laughing and dancing even. But when it came down to it, they were extremely attentive and acted as naturals at their jobs. Especially when in live news, everything is scheduled down to the second, workers can not lose focus on what needs to be done.
Being in the control room though is a different story. The director is constantly talking in her ear piece to room of about twenty and atmosphere is a lot more tense. It is the director’s job to make sure everything runs smoothly so everything depends on their direction. The control room is basically a dark room lit by computer screens and High-def televisions surrounding the room everywhere. Workers are sitting at computers staring at their screens. What was really interesting for me to see were the producers writing the script of what the anchors will say and then seeing the Anchor’s say that on television.
It was cool how each job’s function is vital to the production of what we watch each morning. The next time you watch the news, think about all the people who are behind this production. From the script, to the graphics, every detail matters. For those of you who are adrenaline junkies, I highly recommend this profession. And everyone working for CBS This Morning is in their driveway by Noon….so not too bad!
It’s amazing how so many young men and women from across the U.S. make the a decision which many label as the “ultimate sacrifice” to join our country’s military, and commit to however many years of service and don’t feel welcomed when they return home. Asides from the parades, and the spectacle that is orchestrated during the first day of returning from a deployment, many veterans feel unwelcome when they return abroad. Why is that?
You would think that after years of experience of performing their military occupation specialty they would have companies lined up to utilize their experience and infuse it into the workforce, but that only lays to be a mysterious theory. You would think our governments infrastructure would have learned from the mistakes they have made with prior “so called” war hero’s, the Vietnam Veterans who have unfortunately served as guinea pigs as to what life would be like for a returning soldier that may have been shell shocked by their experiences overseas.
So fast forward to 2013, and we still have service men and women returning home from our efforts in the Middle East and continue to experience difficulties with finding employment, having a place to stay, let alone having enough income to provide for their families. If they haven’t already abandoned them. As a result of this, it causes many Vets to return to service; and that’s where you here the story about old Chuck that got out and struggled so he went back and was killed by a roadside bomb… So what do we do to help our veterans? What do we do to make that unwelcoming stigma vanish?
The Department of Veteran Affairs is supposed to be a tool for helping our returning veterans but when you speak to the vets they always talk about how the VA gives them the run around and the only prescription to the problem is just that, a prescription.
Flipping through TV channels, holiday ads are being aired. Christmas jingles, snowy sceneries, holiday bargains are being promoted, and Thanksgiving seems to be forgotten!
Target is one of the big corporate giants which started running a Christmas ad just three weeks before Halloween! Usually holiday ads are accustomed to run at the beginning of November. Besides their extremely early ad promo, target has also unveiled the new holiday collaboration with luxury department store Neiman Marcus.
This is something I can wait for!
Neiman’s has joined forces with Target to bring luxury and affordable together. There are twenty-four designers that have gathered to create unique fashions, home décor and holiday items. Some products that I am looking forward to purchase are Joseph Altuzarra’s shaker, old fashion glasses (Love, love, love!) and tray and Band of Outsiders Hats. Products prices range for a $7.99- $499.99. These items will be in stores December 1st, they are a limited time offer and there is a limit of purchase for customers.
This collaboration will let people who follow high-luxury fashion brands to get a piece of them without spending big bucks. It will also allow people to purchase higher quality items for an average affordable price.
I was just watching the news and heard the plans for the future of Flushing Meadows Corona Park. The city is apparently planning to put a mall in the park, as well as a soccer stadium and an addition to the tennis stadium.
I live a few minutes walk from the park and it is a huge part of what makes Queens my home. I grew up in the suburbs and the park is all that we have in this area of Queens that gives it a sense of suburbia. It might not be the nicest park, but it’s my park and it means a lot to me.
A big issue for New York City is obesity. This park is the best place to go for a run in the area and it is also the best environment for children to play. Building in the park would be destroying the children’s playground and this would be detrimental to the healthy movement in NYC.
It is always upsetting to see changes happening in an environment that we love the way it is. In this case, the people of Flushing and surrounding areas are outraged by the thought of losing the greater part of our park. Something should be done to keep the city from going through with their plans and ruining our home.
Please feel free to add your thoughts and please help save our park.

In September Danone will laungh his new yaghurt pot named “KISS”. A huge project amounted to several milion euros.
After 40 years of loyal service the traditional yoghurt pot will be replaced. The Fresh Products France branch unveiled Tuesday, March 13 “Kiss” the new packaging for its yoghurt pots.
Why “KISS” ? It is for “Keep It Simple and Safe”. The yoghurt is more original, more slender, and “spoonable” according to Danone because the base is rounded, leaving easy access to the spoon. This model has already been tested in Spain, where he recorded in less than six month an increase in sales of 3 to 4%. This new packaging appeal a lot of new consumer and the change is not something wrong for the habit of consumer.
In supermarket, the company also want a new dramatization of its products with linear named “blackshelves”. The rays will be black different than the usual colour green and white used for every dairy product.
Do you think that Danone takes a good decision to create a new packaging for its yoghurt ?
A mysterious man called F. Bertrand has the idea of creating a tactile watch
. We can see on this watch-bracelet all the applications we love : Facebook, Twitter, Deezer, the news, the weather… We just have to put on the application we want and the main informations appear on the bracelet. We can also linked the watch and our phones to make the application directly appear on our smartphone.
We already have smartphone and touchpad but are we so fond of technology that we are able to actually wear our phone applications ? Let’s see that when the product will be launched for real. For now, it’s just a prototype.
