Doing an internship can gives you a lot of cool opportunities… For me it has been to attend to many great shows during the New York fashion week and particularly one : Diesel Black Gold.
I only knew Diesel as a tacky and too washed-out jeans brand but when I entered Grand Central, one of the most famous place in New York City, and discovered the show was going to literally take place in this huge and amazing train station, I started to expect something else.
My boss and I managed to get into the show, but we had to be standing. Actually, the fashion field seems to be very absurd and paradoxical because even the CEO’s wife didn’t have a seat and was standing next to us. Weird. Well, I desperately tried to take pictures of my boss with some “famous” people (yeah that was my job) but it was way too crowded to even move.
The show Started 40 mins late because of the photographers and their flash’s crackling… Journalist were taking pictures of stars as Kanye West, but also as very famous bloggers as theblondesalad or Bryanboy… Overdressed, front row and very solicited by the photographers, this new generation seems indeed to be the new stars of the fashion world, kind of the new chief editors.
After struggling for so long I hoped to see the greatest show ever. Special effects ? Famous singer ? I don’t know what I exactly expected but the fact is that it lasted 10 min and even if nothing special happened, the athmosphere was incredible : music out loud, hundreds of people holding their phones to take pictures (and prove they were there i guess), flash and models… I eventually had a great experience and discovered that diesel black gold knows how to make very nice and classy clothes.
I recently attended the Carlos Campos Fashion Presentation at Milk Studios. The collection was full of fantastic fall colors and detailed separates. All of the outfits had great shoes to match. My favorite was an all red suit with wingtip shoes to match. Carlos Campos is a Honduran designer that came to the United States at the age of 14 with a dream to be a famous designer someday. He was CFDA nominee this past year. Famous people who have worn his clothes are Usher, All-American Rejects lead singer Tyson Ritter, and Christopher Mintz. He recently opened a store on Grand street in the lower east side which you should all visit! CarlosCampos.com
