New York Comic-Con Website
The other day I received my pass for this year’s Comic-Con. This will be my first time at a Comic-Con, so I am really excited for it. I don’t really know what to expect there, except the guests. There are a lot of cool people showing up, but here are some of the people I’m probably looking forward to the most.
-Adam West (the 1960s Batman TV series)
-Carrie Fischer (Princess Leia in Star Wars)
-Ian McDiarmid (Emperor Palpatine in the Star Wars prequel trilogy)
-Christopher Lloyd (Doc Brown in Back to the Future)
I’m wondering if anyone else went to a previous Comic-Con. If you did, what can I expect from going to this year’s?
I feel like computer nerds are dealing with an entirely different kind of "cookies"
When I was younger, I was a Girl Scout. We met up, learned about stuff, did stuff, and got little embroidered badges as a reward. You read a book? Badge. Rode a bike? Badge. Talked to your grandmother? Badge. It really wasn’t very difficult. We also sold cookies which was really the only reason I joined, but that’s another story.
For all of those out there who are so proud of your computing skills that you want to show them off to others, never fear, someone has invented nerd merit badges. These velcro patches can be attached to a ‘sash’ on your computer, displaying such accomplishments as Inbox Cleaning, Family Tech Support, and proper spelling on posts. I am totally behind this trend. I’d proudly display my skills at obsessive Facebook use, oversharing on Twitter, and celebrity news reading while in class.
