This past week, I learned a valuable lesson of what really matters in life. I understand that this may be different for everyone else but don’t wait till something big happens for you to open your eyes. Everyday of our lives we go out and strive to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves , that is wonderful but how much of that takes up our lives should be balanced out. Why should school and work take so much over our lives that we don’t see whats happening around us. I understand the importance of an education and the importance of making money to survive but whats the point of it all if you don’t focus on the people that actually matter.
I had my wakeup call after discovering a very unfortunate event involving a close family friend. Every single day we are out and about working, trying to be on top of the game so we can get the material things we don’t need. It’s true! We not only work to survive but many of us tire ourselves out working hard to have that new pair of shoes, new phone etc. Don’t get me wrong, I want to have a successful career and work in a field that I am genuinely interested but at the end of the day I don’t want it to rule my life so much that I forget about those who actually matter. The education system itself has become a joke. The professional world is filled with bitter/hateful people and sadly we spend thousands on our education learning how to be submissive to those people. The more your sacrifice your personal life the more successful you become. It’s a weird idea but somehow its become acceptable. There are so many instances when people forget that life happens…wait they don’t forget, they just don’t give a crap and then you’re instantly reminded how you are easily replaceable.
I cannot sit down and predict my entire future based on my new discovery of how life really is but what I do know is that I don’t want to sit back and wait for life to pass by. Go and talk to someone you haven’t spoken to in a while, go out with your family or even stay home and watch a movie together because the worst kind of “what ifs” you can have are the ones involving your loved ones. The biggest reality of life is that we have 9 months to prepare for a new life but death only needs a moment.
To sort of change the topic, here is a video I found on YouTube. I was absolutely amazed by it and think you might enjoy it too!
Attraction Performance on Britain’s Got Talent
I didn’t do much this week, just hung out with my friends from Westchester who i have not seen in a while. I moved to queens for the semester so i never see them anymore. I miss them a lot, we’re all more like sisters rather than friends.
On sunday we decided to get something to eat in the city and go to the museum of natural history. It was free admission so we said why not?
