Last week-end, I spent few days in Washington DC in order to visit my family. This is a small town, very relaxing and quiet.
Two years ago, my uncle moved to the neighborhood of Chevy Chase with his family to enjoy a fruitful expat experience. He leaves in a little red brick house. There is a garden with a huge trampoline where the kids love bouncing. The striking thing when you arrive in Washington is the wide array of colors : yellow, red, pink, brown, butterscotch. It just looks like an impressionist painting.
Moreover, we went for a long walk in the Rock creek park vested in the city. I also enjoy the fresh air, the silent of the atmosphere and the view. Also, I had a nice surprise during my weekend. For the first time, I saw a wild raccoon. He was very close to the house and looked for food. I was impressed because it is a very big but also very beautiful animal, with a kindly head. We gave him some bread, some fruit and water. He stayed in the front of us and ate slowly. I noticed that he washed his food before eating.
It was an opportunity for me to share good meal with my relatives. Because as French people knows, we have a kind of Thanksgiving meal every week-end in France. This is like a tradition. During my days in Washington, we had a typical fall season lunch. There was butternut squash soup with fresh rosemary, a home-made Cesar salad with delicate anchovy sauce, a huge green salad with strawberries and a fresh homemade carrot cake. It was a delicious American meal prepared by French people. Also, we made a barbecue with tasty meat and chicken. I’am so proud of them and I love the way they feel good there. But, it was not always easy.
Hophophop is a young fantasy jewelery brand whose studio is based in Paris.
The designer, Clementine, started her company because she “did not want her dreams stay in her head.”
She is given a kick in the butt, hence the name “Hophophop” …
Very creative, she is full of ideas and expresses herself, through not only with the jewelry she sells, but also exposing us her whole universe by her drawings, songs and stories …
We discover with wonder, a sweet little world reassuring reminding of us a cocoon.
The website has an e-shop in French and the translated version in English.
I’ve always been a fan of art especially abstract art and with my first few walks throughout the New York happen to passby and observe a couple of these street artist and it was so just amazing how these artist uses colored aerosol spray cans and comeup with amazing abstract and landscapes in just a matter of minutes. I’ve was asked by a friend before to look for these artist back in Malaysia so that she could purchased but I just didnt know where to look for them and there they were as I was taking a night stroll around Time Square What these artist do is that they use a canvas board and their materials would just be the spray cans and to imrovise their artwork their stencils are made out of newspapers , cardboards and rulers and certain tools like the chisels and blades to spread the spray paint to give it a futuristic look. I managed to take pictures but there’s a video that I found out about these artist and aparently its been around for a long time now. I just thought it was such a talent and it always makes me wonder how this artist are not exactly recognized in the art industry in New York.
