Huggies Taps Mothers for Social Media Invention

In a bid to become recognized as a baby care brand, Huggies has recently launched a campaign titled “MomInspired Grant Program“, which invites feedback about a “unique baby or child care product idea that addresses an unmet parenting need”. Huggies is offering a total amount of $250,000 in grant money, with up to $15,000 for each considered idea.

To promote its campaign, Huggies has created a microsite, and will also use Facebook and Twitter to spread the word amongst the social media community.

What do you guys think about this innovative, bottom-up approach by Huggies to try and build a stronger relationship with its consumers? Considering the tough economic times, should more brands consider this type of marketing strategy?

I am working on my peer review regarding the social media activity of Dove and I think these movies realized by the company are very interesting and really well done. Thanks to them, the brand became one good example of creative strategy. These movies are very famous and represent exactly the message of Dove: self-esteem and real beauty.

The LOL project was launched by David Ken, a well-known photographer. His idea? First, he takes pictures of people laughing and publishes them on Facebook to make a “cheerfulness fresco”. Then, he hopes that these pictures will become an exhibition on Paris!

You want to participate? Easy! Become fan of his Facebook page and send him an email with your phone number (I don’t know if it’s only in France…). They will call you!

His Facebook Fan page already has 7 372 fan!

According to a world survey realized by InSites Consulting in 14 countries, 32% of users trust more professional social media, such as LinkedIn. People are afraid regarding socail media such as facebook because they don’t really know what kind of information it is good to update on their profile. They don’t feel secure.

This survey shows that 82% of users think deeply before adding posts about them, 74% before posting a video and 79% before adding a friend or a relation.

And 55% of facebook users don’t trust it. The question is why there are more than 400 millions of facebook users if they don’t trust it?

While these American troops may be stationed overseas in Afghanistan, the troops are even goo goo for ga ga. During their free time off – duty. A few members decided to produce their own remake of the infamous Lady Gaga & Beyonce song ” Telephone “.

This was initially supposed to be a joke to send back to family and friends back home..but once again these guys made a one hit wonder. Now, with over 2,000,000 hits on YouTube, this video is being spread across the world! As you all know I love music and have almost memorized the Telephone video…. it is ABSOLUTELY hilarious to me how these guys dressed up in the featured crazy Lady Gaga costumes and how ironically the only black guy in the video sings Beyonce’s role ? Hahahaha. My favorite is minute 2:19 where the whole crew does the funniest group routine…

Yankee Stadium

Hi everybody,

On sunday afternoon I went to the Yankee stadium to see the baseball game: Yankees Vs White Sox!

It was my first time at the stadium and its AMAZING! Here is a pic of the new stadium!

The atmosphere was soooo cool, everyone was eating and enjoying the game under a sunny sunday!

One thing I found very funny is that in the middle of the game everybody stand up to sing a song called god bless

america or something similar, and at the end of the song, the guy on the microphone said, ” this song was presented to

you by Budweiser” Wow! they even advertise during a “praying” song its amazing!

What do you think of baseball games? Who is your fav team?

ps: this has no link with this post but I think the picture at the home page of our blog is from Mulberry street, is that correct Mr Scheckel?

Madonna, Lady Gaga… GLEE!!!

Two weeks ago, the series Glee offered an episode dedicated to Madonna. In this episode, we could listen a few tubes of Madonna such as Borderline, Burning Up, Like a Virgin, 4minutes … The episode has been a real success. the soundtrack of the Madonna special episode of the series settles into Glee effect on pole position, one week after the airing of the episode.

After the success of the Madonna special episode, Lady GaGa will be the next artist to have his episode of Glee. I think the episode will be the image of Lady Gaga: amazing!

The Simpson’s Lip-dub!

The opening scene of the May 2, 2010 episode of The Simpson featured a surprise act of the Simpsons characters dubbing Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok”.

While the singer herself didn’t appear on the episode, all main Simpsons characters ‘sang’ to her original tunes. While Lisa Simpson and several other characters from the series are lip-synching to Ke$ha’s original voice, the intermediate lyrics by P. Diddy are replaced by the voice of Bart Simpson.

While the opening act with Ke$ha was completely unrelated with the rest of the episode, it was generally well received, with many positive Tweets. The lip-dub Simpson is one of many musical sequences that viewers of the Fox series discover until Wednesday, as part of “Fox Rocks”, a special week of the chanel.

Thus, Family Guy, after the release of its 150th episode will feature unreleased music sequences, Olivia Newton-John will be the special guest of Glee, and Dr. House will sing a karaoke.

Don’t worry, you’re not limited to sharing your twitter name. If you’re more into promoting a brand or topic in general, you can have a #hashtag necklace as well. The bling comes in the form of necklace, bracelet, anklet, keychain, pin or tie clip (see, gents, you’re not left out!) and dual-name necklaces as well. I think this would be a cool promotional gift for a company to hand out to its employees, or in the case of a fun brand that people like to represent, a hashtag necklace could be given or sold to their customers. I could definitely see an @Vogue necklace being given out at their parties, or a #Change necklace for Obama’s next campaign (we’ll see how that works out…).

The Facebook pirate

On saturday, someone pirates 1,5 million Facebook accounts!! On the almost 400 million of Facebook accounts, it represents 1 on 266… a lot. The most incredible part of this story is that the pirate sold these accounts on Internet! Try to imagine that someone buys your Facebook page, what can they do with it? I haven’t the “pirate spirit” at all because I don’t understand what someone can do with an unknow Facebook account. Have you an idea?

Today, they don’t really know who is the pirate, but they think he is a young Russian guy, living in New Zealand.

Twitter getting easier?

It’s hard to imagine Twitter becoming more accessible, but, in a number of developing countries, many people still do not have ‘state-of-the-art’ cell-phones… so, considering that Twitter started as a text messaging communication outlet, on Friday, 23rd, it announced it’s acquisition of a text messaging company called Cloudhopper, a Seattle start-up.

Evan Williams, a co-founder of Twitter says, “Mobile is clearly where the majority of usage will happen”.Considering that the majority of Tweeters are not in the United States, it seems like a useful strategy to make Twitter more accessible to people in developing countries, who do not have web-enabled phones.

How much more accessible can Twitter become…?
