Its that time of the season again! The Mercedes-Benz Fashion week that is, New York City is packed with celebrities and fashionistas galore. From smaller brands like Ivana Helsinki to bigger ones such as Valentino showcasing their Autumn-Winter 2012 lines. Venues are booked until February 16th the last official day of NYC fashion week. Many get to view the shows whether they attend or see it online, but what you don’t get to see the is the behind the scenes and press action.

Working in Fashion Public Relations is fast paced and high stress during NYFW, my cup of tea. I am going to take you through the chaos of my day as myself and 25 other members of the PR team geared up for the Ivana Helsinki Fall 2012 show and after party.

Our PR team was notably dressed in black from head-to-toe. We looked like a bunch of secret service agents with our headsets on franticly running around. The Ivana Helsinki show took place at the Metropolitan Pavilion on February 10 at 6:30pm sharp. While I was in charge of managing press check-in many others were busy at guest check-in, backstage management, and escorting VIP fashion editors and celebrities like Stephanie Pratt to their seats.

The Bollare PR staff arrived at the venue at around 3:00pm to start checking press in and monitor beauty and backstage interviews. Closer to show-time was utter chaos, people were trying to sneak into the show, guest check-in was frantic and my head piece was MIA. With 5 minutes left till show time the mood in the air changed. Everything calm and the show went off with out a hitch. I was only able to watch half of the show because I had to jet-set to the Ivana Helsinki launch party at her store on the Lower East Side.

At the launch party I was in charge of guest check-in and supervising the other interns and their tasks. The after-party was was a complete success, the store was packed with 150 guest in attendance. The party had to end at 10:00pm because neighborhood noise compliance codes. Many guests including the designer continued the celebrations at the Stone Rose lounge, after working a more than full work day from 9am-10:00pm I called it a night.
