A Social Media for Business Class Experiment

Awareness

Today I had a class that upset me.

During the event planning class , we need to organize for the end of the year an event for the foundation for the disease preeclampsia.  It was not very concrete in our minds until today.

To make us understand the tragedy of this disease, we meet the members and founders of the association. The professor brought three people during the classe :

  • The founder of the association, which has almost lost her baby because of this disease
  • A man and a woman who could never know their grandson because he died because of this disease.

The founder began to speak, and it was very moving because she suddenly tears came. She told us not to have lived the childbirth she expected, because it was very distressing. She also did not have her imagined feelings while giving birth because she was unable to care for her child or breastfeed.

It is then the other woman who spoke up, saying how this disease was tragic, and could affect anyone who has no history or particular reasons.
The man was in tears and could not speak on.

We then watched a film telling the story of the grandson they never knew.

We saw a parade of images of joy, happiness, love and waiting for that child.Adorable videos where the couple embraces and is giving his full attention to the round belly of the woman.
They even organized a baby shower party, pending the birth. The mother was beautiful and everyone seemed happy.

Then suddenly the image stopped to tell us that after 35 weeks, the baby had died because of this disease.
Subsequently emerged images of the family around a small white marble coffin.

It was extremely sad to watch, and the man has really started to cry so we were all very touched.
Moreover, we have seen pictures of the mother, torn by grief, clinging to the coffin of her lost child, and weep.

At the end of the film the man stood up. He had stopped crying, and since we are mostly girls in the class, he told us that when we wanted to have a child, it was absolutely necessary to test for this disease, for do not live the same nightmare that his family.

We all wept during this film because it was really horrible to imagine and see their suffering after so waiting the baby and happiness.

It made me realize that there is nothing in the shelters and that these tragedies do not happen to others. These testimonies brought us a lot, and now we are aware of the danger of this disease, and we want to tell our loved ones to carefull about it.

I strongly invite you to learn and visit the foundation website : http://www.preeclampsia.org/
